An Unusual Tuesday

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Today started with anticipation. We went to Boyz Club, as usual, for coffee, tea and the usual BS. As soon as Larry left for his office, we headed out the door to follow him. Larry explained we could not know any details of the other offer on the house. We just had to come with our “best and final” offer and hope it would be enough. We went back to the house to take another look, make sure it really was in good shape, check out water pressure, the kitchen lay out, and talk to the owner’s daughter and son-in-law. Went back to Larry’s and gave it our best shot.

Saw Dwight as we were walking back to our place. Agreed that all three of us would go for a bike ride today. Met around 11:30 for the ride. Dan made it most of the way but had forgotten his inhaler so he turned around before the last descent so he wouldn’t have to climb back up that hill. We had all seen some type of cat on our way out – housecat, bobcat, or mountain lion? It may have been a very large housecat. It wasn’t a bobcat (had a tail). It could’ve been a ‘baby’ mountain lion. On our way back, Dwight and I went over to where we had seen it and looked for prints. Saw some (large for a housecat) and saw some scat. We still don’t know what it was.

As I was getting ready to go into town, Larry called. We did not get the house. Turns out the son-in-law had a friend who wanted the place so they are selling it to him for our “best and final” offer. Needless to say, we feel cheated and want the owner to honor our offer. Ain’t gonna happen so we just need to get over it. Dammit!

We are going through the emotions of losing something we wanted. I know the platitudes and am hoping something better will come along. Thanks for the positive comments.

Seems to me if the son in law wanted his friend to buy it, it should have been handled as a private sale and not public? That's a lousy thing for them to have done to you! The "friend" should have at least had to put up more than your offer!! Wouldn't that be something like "insider trading" and illegal? Oh well. Everything happens for a reason, something better will come along for you! emoticon
