Cleaning up for the maids...my explanation

It's been brought to my attention that cleaning up for the maids might be somewhat...inefficient? Counterproductive? Crazy? Neurotic? Just plain...weird?

Well, yes. It could be all of that. But let me explain. You see, when your house resembles an episode of 'Hoarders', you really DO need to clean up for the maids! The maids come and vacuum, mop, and clean the bathrooms. They do not, in any meaningful way, deal with the clutter of my household. Don't get me wrong - they do a darned good job of moving the clutter around to clean under it. But when they leave if I have clutter...it remains...

So that's why I have to clean up for the maids. And hoo-boy, I'm not done yet! Bwahahaha!

    I've never hired a maid, but I know how it goes with accumulating stuff. I think what might really do you good- is to invite a few friends, wear a blind fold and just start tossing it all out! It's HARD, but very, very liberating! Or do the 15 min rule - where you do it for 15 min and STOP!

What I need to do is go through my basement and finally collect all the old pain containers, find a place and time to dispose them and GO do it! Trust me, I'm no better with the de-cluttering- it's just different stuff. I feel like a paint container hoarder-LOL! And this is even worse- I need to go shred 3 or 7 yrs worth of paperwork... and it's been sitting in my truck for 6 weeks! So I better stop giving advice to others and start doing what I suggest-LOL! For real!!!

I think it's great that you are getting a cleaning service to help you- I think having a whole house with boys... and working full time is simply TOO much! So good for you!

    No - you are not any of that! I do that - prepping - what the heck - I move the knick knacks... etc anyway so I stowe everything away and do a quick wipe down before they arrive. When they are done I put everything back nice and neat. I have chemical allergies and they do a really nice job and are in and out quickly - we have three bathrooms.
