Back on the Zometa
Tuesday, November 13, 2012
Had my chemo today; there was a slight change made in my treatment plan. Still on the Gemzar, but instead of the monthly Aredia (not chemo, but a drug for the bones) I was switched back to Zometa. Something to do with the insurance reimbursement and the availability at the hospital. They are both basically the same drug, but the main difference is the infusion time; the Aredia takes 2 hours and the Zometa only about 20 minutes.
Hemoglobin is starting to drop again, it's at 9.7, and that is when I start feeling it. Not low enough though to require a transfusion, and the fatigue is still not as bad as it was before that last transfusion. It's good to know though, that there is a reason that I am getting sleepy earlier in the evenings, and if I pace myself, I will get through this just fine.
I didn't make it to the Scandinavian Festival on Saturday, my legs were just not feeling very strong that day. It didn't start til 3pm; if was an event that started in the morning, it would have been easier for me to go. But I didn't miss it entirely; when I went to church Sunday, they still had the crafts, and they were selling the leftover baked goods for 1/2 price. They also had some of the old church pictures still on display.
Our weather Sunday was beautiful, but very windy. It got up to 70°F, but by Monday morning, it was back down into the 30's. We had some snow overnight, but just a light dusting that was gone by mid morning.
I am finished with my Christmas projects, (unless I decide to make more, lol) and now I am using up some of leftover yarn and making crocheted headbands for next years Operation Christmas Child boxes.
