Parking in the Weight Watchers section?

First, let me say that my car does not even vaguely resemble this Emoticon.

I ride a trolley to work and occasionally park at a space near the entrance to the parking lot rather than drive close to the entrance to the trolley pay booth. This makes me feel good because I am helping the environment by burning a little less fossil fuel while I am helping myself by burning a few more calories.

Recently one of my coworkers noticed where I was parked and commented that I was parking in the "Weight Watchers" section of the lot. Apparently, WW advises people to park at the outskirts of lots so that they can burn those few extra calories. I had never heard of this before. I was also not going to give WW the credit to I told my coworker that I was actually parked in the "SparkPeople tree huggers" section of the lot!

Maybe I'll put a sign up.

Not the WW part of the lot, but the non-door dingers part of the lot.

My mom, who never weighed more than 112 lbs, always parked as far from the door as she could. She had two motives, burn some energy and avoid dings. We do the same in the summer but when winter comes with its high winds (20+ mph) we park as close as we can get emoticon

WW doesn't have a monopoly on walking parking lots. As long as it isn't pouring rain, I have always walked in.

Park your car further away, take the stairs - all common weight-loss strategies. I prefer to think of them as healthy living strategies!

Ha! Also, I like to call it the "I don't want to get my car dinged up too bad" part of the parking lot.
