11/13/2012 - My Doctor's Visit

Well I didn't get my numbers down. In fact my A1c went up to 7.8, so now I am on insulin. At least I only take it before bed, and I get to use a pen. Gotta look on the bright side. I have to get my FBS down to 110. I have got to get serious about losing weight and keeping my blood sugar under control. I know the consequences if I don't, going blind, amputation are two of them.

I know what I need to do, so I don't know why I don't. I have to exercise and eat regular, healthy meals. I can have snacks but they need to be no more than 30 carbs. I think what I will do in the next couple of days is sit down and write my meals & snacks with the carb counts. One of the reasons I joined Spark People is that the nutritional menu breaks the food down so I can count my carbs.

My next doctor's appointment is February 12, 2013. My goal is to get my FBS around 110 most mornings if not a bit lower. At the doctor's office my weight was 305 pounds which I was wearing clothes and shoes, so I want to be at 289 which is 16 pounds less. That works out to about 1.75 pounds a week. Completely doable. I also want to do the 45 minutes a day exercising likes my doctor wants.

The plus side is that my blood pressure readings are normal. At least I have that going for me. LOL

I will try and blog how I am doing to keep me accountable. I still have a lot of living left to do.
