I don't post here very often, as I "maintain" a training journal elsewhere. But, here I get different feedback from different people so I like to update this now and then.

And this is a big one (for me).

I am primarily a cyclist: it's really easy to go out and ride for hours (literally) and have a great time doing it. It's social, I love my cycling pals, and it's something I've done for years.

I am not a runner, at least not naturally. I've got these short little legs that don't move very quickly, and it's not something I've ever really enjoyed. Still, I decided to register for the Georgia Publix Marathon, held every year in Atlanta in March. Next year (2013), it will be on Saint Patrick's Day, which is doubly exciting.

I've registered for the full distance, and am training (per usual) with Team in Training. I know that when it comes to running especially I need some external accountability, because I won't just run on my own like I will with cycling. So far (a week in), I'm pretty happy. We're still on short miles and I'm still on short legs, so it hasn't been fast or pretty. But, I'm happy. I'm enjoying it. The cycling has built up a solid cardio base so I've been able to run every distance (again, slowly).

I'm feeling pretty positive about this.
