New favorite post-workout snack

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

After I run in the morning, I have to hustle to get ready for work, so I don't have time to eat breakfast right away. I get so hungry on the way in to work, it's easy to grab something unhealthy just because it's handy (cookies, anybody?) For about a week now, I've been mixing up a cup of soy milk with 1/2 Tbsp. of Hershey's syrup and drinking that on the way in. It's good protein, tastes yummy, and fills me up enough to hold me over to yogurt time. Hopefully this will keep doing the job and keep me away from unwanted calories!

Now that sounds like a great protein snack, and I am always needing more ideas--thanks!

I agree, CANDIK48, that the soy and almond milks have been a surprise to me - they taste like a creamy treat to me. I did try coconut once, but I think it was "water" not "milk". Several bloggers have talked about how refreshing it is, but it tasted nasty to me. Is the Blue Diamond already mixed with coconut? I might have to give that a try!

Sounds good! I like the Blue Diamond Almond Coconut unsweetened and I usually mix it half and half with some water and the Body Fortress Protein Powders for a quick breakfast or snack. I found it surprising that Soy and Almond milk were as tasty and good for you as they are since I've always been a huge milk drinker.

It sounds like you have a great alternative for a "to go" snack. I'm going to try it :-)
