That I would inspire someone to begin running!!!! Wow what a compliment!!!
My passion for running, yes I said passion, began as a New Year's challenge. In 2010 I barely finished my first 5K and half-heartedly got to the 10K. The running bug really bit me this year when I ran 7 miles on the treadmill then I knew I could do 10 and actually trained for a 10 mile race. After there, I went for the half marathon. I did not do it quietly. I told everyone and broadcast my long slow runs on FB. It kept me accountable, honest, and also helped to push me harder. With all of that I got a lot of encouragement and my passion developed. When I spoke to my friends about running and finishing my 10 miler, they told me how my whole demeanor changed. They could feel my excitement about running. I had folks ask me about how things were going and about their own running accomplishments. I offered the same encouragement folks gave me in return. Now one of my closest friends is excited to be training for her first 10K and she said I was her inspiration. I think that may mean more to me than the accomplishments I have made in my running. And now...I am inspired to work harder, run better and hopefully continue to inspire others.
