Veterans Day holiday ride
Monday, November 12, 2012
Alan and I met for a ride which was to go from 120/Cherry Lake Rd to O'Shaughnessy Dam and back.
Just so you understand the difference between men and women, I started this morning with:
Long fingered gloves
Alan was wearing:
Cotton head covering
We got started just after 10 and did the big climb up Cherry Lake Rd. Were zipping down Mather Rd. when Alan’s chain broke. Looked like the master link gave up. Fortunately, he had a chain breaker and a spare pin. Twenty dirty fingers later, the chain was back on and we thought we were ready to go.
Oops, the chain wasn’t fed through the derailler correctly and there wasn’t another spare pin. So, we turned around and headed back. Fortunately from that point, it was mostly downhill.
We got back to the cars and came on home. Total miles: 21. Total fun: over the top!
Future goal: make the whole ride
