OK.... I blow my eating program at least 1 time a month. That happened, yesterday. I have no excuse but to say, sitting by the wood fireplace with my sweetheart, (our first fire of the year), after a VERY cold winterising the pool, solar heat, & bringing in the wood, etc. It was a perfect time for pizza. (I don't eat the crust! I add LOT's of veggies) I didn't realize how many calories I ate at lunch, I thought I was doing REALLY great.... but that 1 meal was 800 cals. (It was just a 1/2 chicken sandwich/ 1 TB. olive oil-mayo & 1 TB. cranberry sauce). So I knew I would possibly go over a little, but I REALLY went over, after logging in everything. So this is my strategy. I do NOT recommend to you, all the time, but for a once in a while thing, this is what I do.

I moved my lunch from Sunday to Monday, (today). That means I started the day out with 1/2 my calories consumed, already. I NEED to eat, daily, I'm exercising so much, I can't fast or whatever. Today I created a 235 calories, 29 Carobs, 8 fats, 14 proteins- go to meal. I take PAM & 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil & put in a skillet. I wash off 2 cups of spinach & sauté it in the skillet. Cook until tiny, with a little ground pepper (no salt) . Take it out, then cook 1/2 C. egg whites, adding in the spinach. I turn it into an omelet. While I am doing this I boil 1 cup broccoli & 1 cup cauliflower. When it is ready the way I like it, I drain it VERY well & add the juice of 1 small tangerine on top & then the rest of the tangerine in pieces, no other seasonings. Mix 'em up. PLUS 100 calorie pack of Smart Foods White Cheddar cheese popcorn. (This is where the salt is, 180 mg) It takes me about 1/2 hour to eat just the popcorn. I take tiny bites of each kernel. AND that's it. Delicious, high fiber, low fat, protein & I'm full for several hours! Water of course. Just love it!

My Thanksgiving challenge: I challenge myself to do at least 100 minutes of exercise each day AND 100 Spark points each day! Also, to fill up on all the wonderful veggies I cook & bring to the table! Baked yams, nothing on top- I back these in oven until they ooze, DELICIOUS!!!! Brocklli with tangerine juice on top, carrot, celery, & jacamia sticks to nibble on. It will be quiet for us this year, D* & Uncle & me. So it will be a little easier.....

BUT Christmas will be my REAL challenge, party gathering with many family members. I'll bring the salad for 30 people. But it IS quite high in calories. Lot's of dark greens, avo., roasted pecans, celery, dried cranberries & Trader Joe's Cranberry walnut dressing, (I will add a little water to help thin it out!)

Love you all! I try to always be in the flow of health from Halloween to Jan. 8, this is the time most americans gain 12 #'s. NOT US!!!!

PS... does anyone know a low sugar, wholeberry cranberry sauce recipe? Nothing artificial!

    Thanksgiving week will be my challenge. My sister, her husband, and6 year old will be here for a week. I have always eaten badly in the past when she and I are together. We both regret it, so this time I am resolving to staying fed with healthy stuff so I am not prone to give into the not so healthy stuff!

    What a doll wonder you are smitten with her! She's absolutely adorable! Who could resist?

    I love my cranberry sauce a little tarty so I might try this great recipe from Clean Eating.
    You can make it up to 5 days ahead so it's a time saver.

    Lemon Cranberry Sauce

    1 lemon
    2 1/2 c fresh or frozen cranberries
    3/4 c sucanat
    1/4 t sea salt

    Remove zest from lemon with a vegetable peeler colored part only, the pith is too bitter. Cut crosswise into thin slices. Save remaining lemon for another use.

    Set aside 1/2 t lemon peel. In a med saucepan on medium heat combine remaining lemon peel, cranberries, sucanat, 3/4 c water and salt. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer, and cook stirring occasionally until most cranberries have burst, about 10 minutes. Transfer to serving dish or container let cool to room temp then put in refrigerator. Serve chilled. Garnish with remaining lemon peel right before serving.

    Serving size: 3 T.

    I've never used Sucanat before...but I'm sure if it's in Clean Eating it's a natural sugar..they don't use anything but natural and healthy in their recipies. I'm going to google it now to find out more about it. Otherwise I'd use a little stevia, or agave, or my go to natural...smushed marajol figs for sweetener.

    That omlet creation sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing. I expect I'd really like it, although I would have never thought of tangerine and popcorn in a spinach-egg white omlet.

    Try using truvia in place of all or some of the sugar. i would boil the cranberries first then add the truvia in the last 5 mins. its all natural (stevia root) or you could use maple syrup but thats higher in cals.

    You are not alone, I also blow my calories at least once a month. Thanksgiving dinner will be at my sister's house, and I plan on eating lots of veggies and lean ham or white turkey meat, but Christmas is a different story. I will be hosting Christmas dinner, and I can't force others to eat like me. I plan on cooking lots of veggies and a turkey, but I've already gotten requests for red velvet cake, peach cobbler, and macaroni & cheese. emoticon Love the pics, and your fairy goddaughter is beautiful.     That little girl is adorable! I won't judge the 235 calorie meal because at least it sounds like a lot of food and its all good stuff. What I will say though is there are going to be times when you eat completely out of pleasure and those meals are probably not going to be on your plan. One of those meals every once in a while, will not throw you off your plan. You cannot punish yourself. I would suggest you buy some salmon filets. They are usually pre-packaged at 4 oz and are only 100 calories and if this happens again, at least you can eat your 235 meal with a piece of pan seared salmon rather than the popcorn.
