I had a 4400 calorie day...

Monday, November 12, 2012

And by 4400, I actually mean 4440. And it was calories BURNED, not consumed.

All in all, my long weekend (I took Friday off as a vacation day) was splendid. Friday morning, we walked kennel kids for 3 1/2 hours, then went shopping for a bit. We managed to get new smartphones (see previous blog post) as well and they're turning out to be great!

Saturday we spent at home, doing weekend chores and little else. I'm a firm believer in 'little else' now and again.

Sunday, I took Bubbie out for a run to celebrate World Run Day.

Once he was settled back home, I headed back out. See, I registered for World Run Day, saying that I would run 4 miles. I considered only doing 2 more, but then it hit me.

I've been doing a lot of saying/planning on doing X, but instead doing Y.

I gave myself a talking to, trying to puzzle out when it became ok to not follow through on what I said.

Enough of that noise.

I ran the additional 3 miles, and felt great when I was done.

After a quick morning snack, Bill and I got decked out in Farmer Brown threads and headed over to OHS again. We spent the next 3 1/2 hours spreading mulch along the dog walking path where it was getting a bit bare and muddy.

3 1/2 hours of wheeling a wheelbarrow from the path, out the back gate, over to the other access gate, and over to the mulch pile. We shoveled the barrows full (maybe 150 lbs or so?) then trudged back to the path again. You're familiar with the process of mulching I'd bet!

Bill figures we did around 20 trips each. Back and forth. All I know is.. I managed 24,447 steps (8,000 were for my 4 miles running) and burned 4,440 calories total. (For perspective, my Saturday calorie burn of not doing much of anything was 2,3473)

I'm tired today.
Understatement? LOL

I'm tired, but it's a good tired, from worthwhile work. The kind that feeds the spirit.
