Words I wish people would remove from their vocabulary

Monday, November 12, 2012

Or at the very least alter the way we use them.

And-- The way society uses this word, sadly the way many of us obese use this word is saddening, quite frankly, it upsets me.

Fat and stupid
Fat and lazy
Fat and ................

Too-- This word we use all the time, right?

It's too hard
It's too painful
It's too much

Can't- Does this really need another person pontificating on why we need to lose this word?

Fact is folks, for many of us, we ARE fat. But that doesn't mean we are fat AND anything other than what we allow ourselves to believe of ourselves.

Fact is, it's NOT TOO anything. Many of us, even through our struggles, our starting and stopping etc either ARE or HAVE done it.

Is it Hard? You Betcha, too hard, NO Is it Painful? Darn straight, but TOO painful? Nope, cause we either ARE or HAVE done it already!

You bring up many interesting points. I don't like to be called fat and I am fat. I was talking about my goals with a co-worker today and she observed with admiration with frankness my willingness to discuss the problem I am working on and to call it what it is - I told her that i was fat and doing something about it. I think I can be fat and lazy because I wasn't willing to make the time to do something about my weight problem - I simply accepted my condition. So, maybe, when I am not trying, I am a fat and lazy person because of the choices I make.

Maybe. . . .being fat and lazy is what a person does; but, does not have to be who they are.

I'm just thinking out loud here -- no major conclusions. I am fat and I can be lazy and I do not like either of those qualities.

The thing is. . . my friend at work today observed what I was doing about the problem and my resolve instead of what I am and what put me there. I think we can change negative perceptions. many of people will say "Just don't listen to them. . . ." Sad fact is people make choices about us and our future based on their perception of us.

you are right, its not nice to label people and I do not like to be labeled. Thank you for the blog.

How about fat and sassy? But all kidding aside, we do need to watch our words and our attitudes to be successful. I've been fat so long, I'm not sure I'll know how to deal with NOT being fat. BUT I'm sure going to find out. Now that is something I am more than willing to deal with. emoticon

It's not the words. It's the people using the words...try

FAT and working to get healthy.

It is never TOO late to get started.
