Open letter to my children: I am not a short-order cook!

Hello My Darlings,
This is your Mother - the woman who loves you, who carried you for 9 months each, gained 35 pounds during each pregnancy and went through 28 hours and 26 hours of labor with you, respectively. While I love you unconditionally, and will always do my best to make you happy, I cannot continue to play "Mommy's Deli" every evening.

Mommy works full time. Mommy has to do your laundry and help you with homework. Mommy has to fit in a workout and eat healthy food so she can keep up with you!

While I understand and respect your love of chicken tenders, tater tots, PB&J and all things processed, I cannot continue spending time making lovely healthy meals chock-full of veggies and deliciousness, only to have you turn up your noses and whine for grilled cheese.

Therefore, from now on, the house rule is that you get TWO choices: take it, or leave it. I promise to make something just for you at least twice a week, but when I make something new, you will taste it. If you don't like it, suck your thumb. CPS will not take you away from Mommy for lack of junk food, no matter what you think.

So, this is Mommy's stand. And don't even think about trying Daddy - trust me, he is NOT on your side.
