Benefiting From Others’ Misfortune....

Monday, November 12, 2012

Truth be told, I have not been doing very well with eating healthy, with not binging and maintaining my weight in a healthy way (I’m not too much over, but still……). I have fallen back into a lot of my old habits. I’ve let stress at work and my own laziness take over and dictate how I feel and react. I have wished repeatedly over the past year that I could just get a "BREAK" from everything. Have a vacation. Get away from my life…..

My 88 year old mother fell and broke her arm. She isn’t disabled enough to go to a nursing home, but they wouldn’t let her go back to her own apartment. So the options were for her to pay for a nursing home on her own or for someone to stay with her. So….here I am, getting up every two hours to help her to the bathroom (I am officially sleep deprived), cooking, cleaning and fetching things…. (Yes, I know you are thinking “what goes around comes around”. These are the things she did for me years ago)

Now, as for my benefiting from her misfortune…..This is an opportunity for me to break away from my bad habits and get back to Sparking a little more (at 11PM, 12 AM, 2AM, 4AM). I’m already eating better and have exercised every day (as much as I don’t really want to). It is sort of a vacation for me….. sort of. Not too much fun for my mom, though.

How's your Mom? I'm assuming that's why you've been so quiet lately. We miss you but understand.

Yes, sometimes a big chance in circumstances can wake us up, hm. Sorry your mother is in pain. I hope you and she will enjoy one another's company.
My 84 year old mom is in hospital right now, but we don't live very near so I wish I could be by her side right now and help her the way you're helping your mother.

Life just keeps on presenting us "opportunities" day in and day out. I am so impressed you have used this challenging time to get back on track. You had a choice. You could have gone "south," but you haven't. I think you are awesome! emoticon
