First Tattoo

Monday, November 12, 2012

So I mentioned a few days ago in a status update that I got a tat. Finally getting around to writing about it!

So, I've been thinking about this for YEARS. I even made it a weight goal a few times. Then I decided not too long ago, I'd get this tat, but in white ink. I guess the commitment would be less? And easier to hide?

I get to the tat parlour I wanted (I got my belly button pierced there at 19 and it's the only piercing of the 10 I've had that has never gotten infected) and talk to the dude at the front desk. He said that I'd have to have the white ink updated so frequently, it's just a cost and amount of pain to take into account. As the tat joint isn't THAT close to where I live and I don't want to spend THAT much money... It was either go black (color would have needed bigger lettering) or don't do it.

So I bit the bullet and did it.

And yes, I already want another one.

Anyways, I wanted the word "strength" on my wrist because it's what's gotten me through my life. I'll always have difficult times (reference last blog for examples), but I will get through and move on. I wanted it on my wrist because this isn't for the whole world to necessarily see. It's for me to see daily and appreciate.

I was worried I'd have buyer's remorse the next morning and want to kick myself in the arse.

Luckily... I LOVE IT. Still. So there's a bright side.

Congrats on the new tattoo! I got one back in high school and I'm still in love with it every time I see it :) Glad you didn't wait any longer! And yes, they are addictive. I really want a white ink tattoo, too. How often did your guy say you'd have to refresh it?

Ahhh, the lady joins the ranks of the inked! emoticon I like it! You earned it! I'm glad the artist steered you away from white. White doesn't work as a main color, it fades too fast. And you got it for the right reason - for yourself. Tats should never be for anyone but yourself. So now that you're a certified addict, what will the next one be??? emoticon

Gratz on the tat. Gotta ask how much that hurt though, such a none meaty area. I have one on my back, yes tramp stamp however it is my nick name given to me by the father of 3 of my kids and that name is me so it was worth it. Glad I did it when I did because there is far less meat there now then there was than.

Good luck on your journey.
