This is paraphrased from an NPR broadcast that I heard this morning about the differences between the attitudes in Eastern and Western cultures regarding education.... When I heard it, I instantly applied it to weight-loss, where I believe it is SO true.
"The way that you conceptualize the act of struggling with something profoundly affects your actual behavior. If struggle indicates weakness to you (for example, a lack of intelligence, willpower, etc), you feel bad. But, if struggle indicates strength--the ability to face down challenges--you are much more likely to stick with it."
So will you give up because you are struggling? Will you feel inferior? or will you realize your true strength and fight through your challenges with your head held high?
Struggling is not the opposite of success--it is a part of it.
