This past week or so I've started several Sparkstreaks. Once I get the hang of one for a few days, I add another. So far, I have a bedtime routine and am drinking 20+ glasses of water each day. But these are easy. I think it's time for another streak!
a FITNESS streak.
I've decided to see how long I can do a 10 min fitness streak -- each and every morning before breakfast. I've read a lot about the benefits of fasted exercise, and I think it will wake me up and help get my metabolism in gear and ready to take on the day.
Today I did 10 min of HIIT/moderate cardio, alternating high-knees on the yoga mat and moderate pedaling on the bike. I really, really like how I felt afterwards (not as exhausted as after a 20 min HIIT session, just energized and wide awake & ready to take on my day). Also, just think: 10 min is relatively easy, but if I do this every morning, that's 70 min of exercise (about 35min HIIT and 35 min cardio) each week without affecting my ability to do my runs! Better yet, these exercises actually work different muscles in my legs than running, so I am crosstraining and helping to prevent injury.
I've added these streaks to my latest weekly tracking thread, and changed a few things around. I'm excited.

I felt so good & awake after just 10 min of vigorous exercise this morning that I made a healthy green smoothie instead of mircowaving a burrito. This streak has the potential to take me places! :)
