Goal Checkup: 11/1 -11/11

Ok, these checkups are where you can learn how NOT to do things. Learn how to FAIL and be pathetic and lazy.

That said, let me show you exactly how pathetic this week (well, over a week) was.

(note, since this is longer than a normal week, I'm just going to list how many of each exercise I needed to have and then how many I actually did)


Yoga 3 times? : No. Only had one
ST 4 times?: No. Had zero.
Cardio 2 times? No. Had zero.

Yeah, you thought I was just being dramatic saying I've been pathetic and a big ass lazy failure but those exercise stats PROVE I'm not just being "mean" to myself or dramatic or looking for folks to say "oh, you'll do better". Those exercise numbers show that I really am not trying.

Stayed in ranges?: Only two days.

Yeah, that's pathetic, too. I proved to myself I can stay in ranges (one of the two days I managed to do it was also a SUNDAY--a weekend day and I did it). So there is no excuse. I'm perfectly capable of doing this and I'm not. Just that simple.


I am maintaining the kitchen tidiness. My spouse isn't so much but I'm doing my part and keeping dishes picked up and counters wiped (though my spouse is cluttering them up all the damn time!).

No other chores stuff has happened. There is no excuse for that.

No crafty organizing has happened, either. No excuse for that.


--New commission accepted. The buyer liked the prototype so I'm cleared to make the real version. I even have the felt but honestly didn't have time to start it yet.

--Quilt Blocks for Charity: I have the fabric all cut just need to stitch together the blocks. Again, time go away from me this weekend or I would probably have them together by now.

I also got the rest of the fabric for the gifts I'm making my sister, so I can start planning that out.

I have to get a small swap item in the mail by 11/22. I'm pretty much sure what I'm going to make and it won't be that hard. I may even be able to get most of it done in one evening watching t.v. But I need to get a good start on the commission item first.

I need to mail off Biggie Smalls this coming weekend, too. I planned it for this weekend that just happened but things fell through.

Now I'm not using this as an excuse but it does show why I didn't have time this weekend. My hubby's grandmother took ill and it went downhill fast so we had to take a trip to Erie, PA to make sure we saw her one last time. I'm not looking for sympathy or whatever by sharing that (and it's no excuse for how crappy I was eating--I chose to eat poorly and be lazy) but it does explain the lack of time.

OH and I'm editing my original goals just a tiny bit. I'm rewarding myself with $1 for every day I stay in ranges. That's more of a real reward than the pay schedule I had figured out previously.

I've also decided I need to tap into my competitive streak to shake myself out of my duldrum. So every week I'm aiming to stay in ranges and exercise more than I did the week before. No aiming for "perfection" but just legitimate improvement.

So for the week of 11/12 - 11/18 I need to beat 2 stay in ranges, 1 yoga, 0 st, and 0 cardio.

Look at those numbers? They're so pathetic there is no reason I can't CRUSH them.

Ok, folks. Let's stop being so lazy or making excuses for ourselves and meet those goals we want to meet.

This week's focus word is: IMPROVEMENT. Meditate on it. Say it to yourself when you're exercising and it's getting hard. Use it to do one more pushup or walk up one more hill. Say it to yourself when you're feeling lazy and want to just have a can of pop or eat something crappy. Say it as you reach for a healthier choice or find something else to do while that craving passes. Say it as you reach for some water or turn off the t.v. and go to bed.

  PS: I target the balanced nutritional intake first - great fuel burns best. I then target cardio, preferably every other day - just my way. May be a bit more simple and straight forward. JMHO.

I appreciate your blog and no doubt more than you would realize.

You seem to be honest and blunt and not holding back on giving yourself some great punches and actually a near perfect butt-kicking.

I think that if I were you (so to speak) I'd use this period just past as an example of how and what you would do "IF" (1) you were totally ignorant of the probabilities of big changes that could well result from several smaller changes in your lifestyle and/or nutritional intake and/or level of physical activities...or... "IF" (2) you actually did not give a CHIT.

Being here on SP, blogging, being honest and beating your own butt, I thinks you are serious. In which case truck-on and do-it, like you mean what you say and do what you mean to do. Be serious as . . . what ever.

Best to you . . . hoping that this next period is more near what you are shooting for . . . it does not have to be a bull's eye to at least be on the target and closer to where you wanna be!
