More Spark on the Go: Hotel Steps

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Hey y'all! I'm out and about and trying to do more Sparking on the Go. I've been tracking and walking every day. I managed to squeeze in a mini workout when we were at the hotel. Shot a video of it with my phone and thought I'd share, just because.

Remember I was going to what would have been my mom's 50th college reunion? That's where I am now. Here's a pic of my dad, picking me up at the airport. He has my name on his iPad. He cracks me up.

How cool is he?

My mom's reunion was so great. I got to meet the group of friends she used to get into tons of trouble with. My favorite part was that they're all exactly the same! Still full of energy and definitely troublemakers, just 50 years later.

Class of 1962, Mom was missed.

I went to the same college as my parents, so homecoming for one, is homecoming for all. Me and Dad on the college oval.

Sadly, neither one of us was mistaken for a student...

Then, get this--one of my SparkBuddies happens to work in the same town as my alma mater! So, I got to squeeze in a SparkMeetUp. We tooled around in her cute lil red car and visited like we already knew each other. You just gotta love that! Makes me want to hop on a plane and go meet other SparkPeeps.

MOSTMOM1 and ELLFIN3- Hi Susan!! :)

One of the things I did, while at my dad's house, was scan a bunch of slides we found, circa 1970something. I had to share this pic from our pre-Bicentennial trip to Philadelphia in 1975. Dad wanted to avoid the crowds. LOL

Me and my brother, eating giant pretzels. Oh, little girl, this is SO an indicator of your future CarbQueen status... heh heh

I remember being beyond impressed with the sidewalk pretzel vendor. We did NOT have such people in the Ft. Worth suburbs. I thought he must have the best job in the entire world, so I had my mom take a pic of us.

My Hero of 1975

And look, I found this--further proof that I have, indeed, always been this way.

That girl's never been quite right in the head...

My college buddies weren't able to make it to the reunion after all. We're definitely all going to our 25th in a couple of years. But three of them were able to come over to the house, so we were still able to record a most stunning rendition of "Beans and Cornbread." Our musical genius is a wonder to behold. I'll have to post the video when I get home.

Beans and Cornbread warmup

This has been a whirlwind trip. I'm so glad I had Spark to keep me on track and in line (health-wise, anyway). Spark on, brave Sparkers!

I had to laugh so much with your face expressions going up the stairs and then talking to us and then coming down and then wanting a drink of water for self and the pix of the firehose.

Your one liners just come so naturally. You must of been a realcracker Jack in humour.
I wonder if you got sent to the principals office for talking. Or maybe not. The teacher had her hand over her mouth from not laughing for students to see. Wow I guess all your teachers now see you viral on Youtube and say. Look, look who it is.

I felt for you going up those stairs. It is hard.

You get the sniffles and the eyes watering. It is like wow. Then you went up and down for your exercise . You did 6 flights of stairs. Wow!

I would be lucky to get up the first flight.

Well my doctors office is two small flights and I have to stop at the first platform and then my way up to four steps.

My hubby said laughing at me I looked like I was having a heartattack. I said well I am in the right place . If so it be. Blowing air out as I am talking back to him. Hmmmmmmmm

emoticon Girl your the brave sparkler.

Love it! Great photos. I myself, loved the banana bread man, that sold his wares warm, from a bike, in Key West. Oh, the memories.

Your Dad looks wonderful.

You are SOOOOO good!!!!!!! Way to go, you!!! It was great for you to stand in for your mom at her reunion and spend some quality time with dad. I know it had to been fun. The only thing to make it better would have been your mom here to be there herself, but I know she was with y'all in spirit.
Good for you not wasting those stairs, too!! Le puff, Le pant!! emoticon
Loved those childhood pics of you. Nice to know you really haven't changed a bit!!! emoticon

What a great trip you shared with your dad. He is so cute. Loved all the pictures and your video. Don't think I could have been able to talk and walk up all those stairs (pant, pant) but you're in a lot better shape than I am. So great that you were able to meet up with your Mom's friends. Very special.

That was great! I often use the stairs at work, which is only 15 steps or so, because they have railing, which my steps at home don't. Any little bit helps, right?

Great sparking on the go! I travel too and I've gotten in the habit of keeping a pair of shorts in my suitcase. If I forget a t-shirt, I can usually pick one up in the airport. I love the idea of the hotel stairs, its private, safe and out of the elements! You are a genius!

  Your blogs are a blast!!!

Tell me some time, do you use a video camera or your phone?

You have way of taking something ordinary and everyday life, and make t intersting, such as

1. who thinks for such clever ways to exercise? or do keep working out ( streaking on trips ), like hotels . You make it a crack up by your narration
( ha/ Darth Valder breathing ). I LOVED the one when yo did all the exercises when doing he routine computer work .

You have a delightful sense of humor.

It was interesting how you shared your experience with your Dad with us.

That is great you got to meet a fellow Sparker. How cool is that? I would like to get to now some " actual friends", that I either really met, or talk on e-mail or phone.

Thanks for sharing your inspirational blogs! emoticon emoticon
