Would the elliptical count in a virtual 5k? I doubt it. I can go much faster on the elliptical than I can walking, because I don't get shin splints on the elliptical. I can do about a 14 min mile on the elliptical, but the fastest I've gone on the treadmill is a 22 min mile.
I have a Dr appt tomorrow and will be getting an A1C done. It's been more than 3 months since my last one - it's actually been about 5 months. I took my blood glucose a few times a couple weeks ago and it was the same as it was before I lost 30lbs and cut down on carbs, so that was super disappointing. To those just tuning in, I'm not diabetic, but I have prediabetes/metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance (I still don't understand the difference between those, or if there even is one) and have a family history of it. I was hoping my A1C would be much better, but if my fasting glucose isn't any better then I don't know if it will be. My doctor will see that I've lost weight, but I bet she's not going to believe that I've cut down on carbs.
I'm also having this problem where my face gets really flushed and really very uncomfortably hot. It's usually in the evening when this happens, but the other day it happened at work. When I'm at home, I put ice packs on my face but at work I can't really do that. My doctor will probably brush it off as nothing like she does with everything else, except this prediabetes thing.
I really need to get a new doctor. I've only been going to her for about a year because I got fed up with my last one. I guess I'm a doctor hopper.
Wednesday is the one year anniversary of my Dad passing. It's becoming difficult again, as that day looms. It will be a melancholy day. I think I'm going to take the day off of work, because I will probably be useless to work anyway, and do something to honor him. I'm not sure what yet, but he's buried in WI where I grew up and I'm in KS so I can't visit him.
To end on a not so sad note, my weight is still fluctuating around the same 2-3 pounds for the last several weeks, but I can feel tangible physical changes to my body. It's the exercise - both changing my body and halting my weight loss. I don't know why, but every time I have tried to lose weight, I will lose steadily if I'm not exercising, but then when I do start working out, it stops. Since my ultimate goal is health and not a number on the scale, I'll stick to what I'm doing!
