THIRD ROW for COUNTING CROWS!!!

Sunday, November 11, 2012

I suppose it's a blessing that after 23 years I KNOW I am married to a jerk and to never count on him to EVER put me first or I wouldn't be thankful that he at least held it until 530. I took him out to a $40 lunch before having him drive to my concert in Austin. Didn't even get out of town good before an hour delay for a wreck. Surprisingly, he didn't whine about standing in line 430 until gates opened for the sold out show at 630. THIRD ROW! BABY!!! Five minutes later, he made me give him $20 and ditched me to stand at the back saying I could meet him at the car when it was over. Half way home, he told me the whole band was where he had gone, talking to everyone. Did I mention he's a jerk?

The first hour waiting in line we got to listen to them practice and it was amazing! Only 12 people in front of us! The meet and greets that paid $300 was the cause of 3rd row instead of 1st so I can't really complain. We were standing by their bus the whole time and I was amazed speechless when Charlie Gillingham cut in front of us to get to the bus with his wife and kid. On the last song, the kiddo jumped in his arms so I had proof.

Whoops. Did I do something wrong? Or did that microphone backhand you upside your head?

Two hours waiting in line and then another hour waiting for Fantastic Tender Mercies to come on followed by Mean Creek. CC came on at nine so that was four and a half hours standing before the big show even started! Totally worth it! They played so many songs that they haven't played in ages and before it was over, both Dan and Immy had given me several "You're a dork" eye contact looks as I mouthed every word to every single song. I'm just disappointed that I was in so much pain (what with standing up for SEVEN HOURS without sitting down ONCE) that I didn't film or take pictures NEARLY as much as I would have liked.

Adam and Immy

An idiot girl threw her beer cup on stage towards the end and got taken out but that caused security to move right in front of Adam when he moved back to the piano for Long December. So here is this big head security guy with a halo of dread locks behind him. I filmed all of Teenage Gravity and I Wish I Were A Girl but was in too much pain to get my now second favorite, Washington Square. And it was awesome. The show was 730-9 for openers and 9-1130 for CC so I got my money's worth in 3rd row. I really did.

When it was over, I did sit down in front of their bus for ten minutes before walking the block to the car. Ron, of course, was asleep inside and refused to get out of the passenger seat. Seven hours with nothing to drink so I couldn't wait him out. It took me three tries to get the car out and then I kept driving in circles. Waited to Georgetown to get a real live full flavored Dr Pepper in lieu of my last Medifast meal of the day. He is SO lucky I had my 1997 bootlegs to keep me xalm. At Belton i pulled into a store and laid my seat down until a little afrter he went in. Then I realized f I just switched seats, he wouldn't stop for me and it HAD been over seven hours, or eight, so I went to take care of bidness and get coffee. Their creamers were screwed up so he had to wait on the curb a LONG time before I came out. That is when he found ot necessary to tell me about Adam being at the back where he was.

Got home at 2 am with the appearance of both boys being asleep but they both got up before I changed to hear about it. Zack said he would have actually driven like Ron was SUPPOSED to do if I hadda taken hom instead. You know why I'm REALLY pissed? Ron going with me, with me paying for every SINGLE thing, is my only Christmas present from him. Once again, he let me down completely as expected but I will just focus on the concert afterglow. A funny thing I noticed tonite that I don't THINK I have ever noticed is that when Adam got really moved in one of the songs, he held his hand on his chest EXACTLY like I do...did I pick it up from him or is it just a coinkydink? Either way, it really got to me.

Here are some links of different shows to get an idea of where I was at in the sold out concert...3rd row standing only packed crowd...I wouldn't have even been visible in this pic because I was way in front of that square outcropping black thingy...

To end the weekend perfectly, Ron went hunting from four am til eight pm on Sunday and then asks why the camera on his phone says there isn't enuf memory...cuz he TRIED to take pix of "my friend Adam" at the concert last night but it said not enuf memory...like he would ever try to take pix for me! ha

Glad you were able to get such great seats at the concert of your fave band & fave guy! Adam takes it anyday over your rascal of a husband! I know it is hard to handle sometimes, but I think you are doing a good job of trying to not take away your joy of a great time. But I think next time, you should ask your son to drive you...LOL
The pics you DID get are GREAT! Glad you have those for memories of such an awesome concert.
