How tired was I last night? I fell asleep in my easy chair at about 8:45! I totally missed the end of Kitchen Nightmares. I'm going to have to watch it on On Demand.
I got some more cleaning done today and I'll get finished tomorrow. Meantime tonight, for the first time in a long time I cooked myself a full, hot meal -- a baked chicken thigh, sweet potato and sauteed beet greens. The greens came from the Chiogga beets that were in my veggie box this week. Chiogga beets are gorgeous -- jagged concentric rings of red and white. I'm going to roast them tomorrow and chill them in a vinaigrette. I'm also doing a brisket in the crock pot. I'm using my standard pot roast sauce of a can of mushroom soup mixed with an envelope of onion soup mix. But that's not the most nutritious sauce, and maybe not the tastiest. I'm going to have to look around for another recipe. I'll have it with roasted potatoes and steamed Brussels sprouts.
When I bought the kits for the pictures I knew they'd be a several-year project interspersed with a lot of knitting. Here's my next project. The picture's copyrighted so I can't paste it here, burt here's the link to the pattern:
I've knitted that kind of basketweave pattern before, and I love doing it. I'm changing the color scheme, though. I'm moving the blues to where the purples are and making dark and medium green the dominant colors. I just gravitate to greens first, blues second. I'm also getting extra yarn so I can make it one panel wider and somewhat longer (until I run out of yarn, basically). That way I can really wrap up and snuggle in it. We get off early on Friday after a staff lunch so I'm hitting the craft store on the way home (Friday is also payday). That way I'll have it to relax with while I'm watching Thanksgiving Live on Sunday and Alton's Countdown to Thanksgiving on Saturday. I'm also submitting a question for Thanksgiving Live and hoping it'll be answered on air. I'm totally not holding my breath, though. I know they get millions. But wouldn't it be sweet to hear either Alton or Bobby say my name? sigh...
I will be SO glad when I'm past the landlord's inspection on Monday. I want to be able to breathe freely again. I'm tired out and I not to have to worry for a day or two.
