What running app do you use?

Saturday, November 10, 2012

So I've been able to take my phone number from the corporate account and make it my own.

This is a good thing. I picked up a new TMobile MyTouch Q (smart phone with a slide-out keyboard) yesterday and I'm excited about the possibilities.

I would love to hear from you - what apps do you use? For intervals, for running, for fitness, etc. I know there are lots out there, so I'd appreciate any insight you'd be willing to share.

I use Cardio Trainer. It's great for recording all of my workouts, but particularly useful for running. It notifies every couple of minutes of how far I've gone and my pace. I can also set it up for time, distance or calorie goals, interval training or to race against myself.

I liked Couch to 5K's app when I first started, and then I used the Nike app for a while. Now I use Charity Miles - I wrote a blog about it here: http://mcmforjustin.blogspot.com/20

I do have a Garmin 305, and love it. However, I'm not so fond of running with the Garmin, and my mp3 player and my old phone. I'm looking forward to using just my phone now and again, hence my question.

I'll check things out and let you know what I decide to go with.
    Thanks again!

Not sure if it's available on Droid, but I SWEAR by Nike+. Love that it has distance goals, time goals, built-in plans, and access to your playlists. I also love the connectivity to Facebook so that I get audible "cheers" every time it posts on my behalf (and people like the post) that I am starting a run. Also, the geek in me likes looking at the finished product on my computer screen.

Before I got my Garmin, I tried RunKeeper, Endomondo, Cardio Trainer, & SportyPal. It's a matter of preference. RunKeeper, IMAPMYRUN, miCoach by Adidas, SmartRunner, & Endomondo always seem to make the "best" list. It's a matter of preference. I had to try them all.

I decided it was time to get my Garmin 305, an older model recommended by an SP run mentor, and I'm glad I got it!

All the best on your search.

I use Bridge to 10K and use the distance setting on it, it can map routes, time, distance and the mileage slips, plus plays my music along the way. I also use Zombies!Run app when I am running alone...way fun!

Enjoy your new phone! I'm sooooo happy that you posted this question - I've been wondering the same but I never think about asking. LOL!

I have Run Keeper but I don't really use it like I should. I need to take the time to figure out what it does. I would like some help with intervals and a audible prompt telling me my pace so I didn't have to look at my phone. I may have it. Thanks for the question so I can learn from you and others and so I can put this on my "to-do" list.

I just saw this that may be helpful.

I always use MapMyRun for running, while listening to iHeartRadio. You can also check out workout trainer by skimble. They have lots of free interval workouts. And for fun--Zombies, Run! Good luck and enjoy!

I use Endomondo on my phone. It tracks my route, distance, pace and calories burned. It also does stats like lap time, split time and tells you your slowest and fastest laps. It uploads workouts to their website and you can upload to Facebook if you like as well. I've also used Runtastic, and it's fine too, I just happen to like Endomondo. I recently got a Fitbit and now use that as well as Endomondo when I run.

I've also used Endomondo for cycling and I use it for walking. For other training and sports, I just use the Fitbit or Sparkpeople fitness entries.
