More gardening

Friday, November 09, 2012

This morning DH and I spent 2.5 hours in the garden. We focussed on clearing up some of the steps and got up about 30 of them. We cut back the Japanese irises that have just finished flowering and some lilies that had been flattened by the wind. And then I took a little pruning saw to some overhanging branches and before you know it we had done quite a lot.
More than planned as we were quite bushed, and I had intended just to do enough so that we had made a difference but weren't tired.
I always tend to get a bit engrossed when I am gardening then suddenly realize I am exhausted. At least THAT didn't happen.
The steps look a lot better, and it has been quite some time time since they have had attention as I tend to start at the stop and work my way down. Somehow the lower reaches don't get as much attention as the steps close to the house. But if we keep working at it together, we could get the place looking tidy in just a few more sessions.

You get a lot of satisfaction out of doing it all, too.
