Not That I WANT To, But It Might Be Time To Leave Curves

Friday, November 09, 2012

emoticon The Very Best Case Scenario is that My Curves will be Open through December but not re-opening after January 1. I have been looking around at other Gyms in my area since the nearest Curves is 25 miles away. AND I would not be getting a Free Membership since I wouldn't be an Employee.
emoticon I do belong -- with My Hubby -- to Anytime Fitness here in town. I have never even talked to any of the Trainers there, or checked out their Weight Machines. Partly because I am usually there when they are not 'Staffed'. I went in today and talked to the Trainer - Alexis - about their Circuit Training. I feel much better about it now. All their machines for Circuit Training are sitting together right behind the Treadmill, Recumbent Bike, and Ellipticals that I have been using for almost a Year now.
emoticon I will most likely check out the Curves in Edmond even though it is so far away. But at least now I feel a little more comfortable about not having to find a totally New Gym.

I am a member at an Anytime Fitness and I love it. I am sure it will take some time to get used to it, but you will be fine.

I've not been to Curves, but I'm betting that you having to switch to Anytime is a GOOD thing. From what I know about Curves (and it sounds like Jeckie is making the same point), you can only go so far with what they offer. You are no longer a newbie. You'll do just great at Anytime. And you and your hubby can go together.

I love going to the gym with DH. I'll see a reflection of somebody in one of the mirrors and think, "that's a nice looking guy" and it's MY husband! Love it when that happens.

Maybe this is a good shake up? I loved Curves when I first started out, but there did come a point where I found I couldn't push myself there (your mileage may vary). I bet you'll do great at Anytime Fitness!

Wishing you the best! It's hard to go new places and try new things for me. So, I understand your feelings of discomfort. Just take it slow and familiarize yourself. It will get easier. Keep up the good work! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

Transition / change can be challenging. But it sounds as though you're figuring out your options and moving forward in classic Jeannie style! You go, mama Turtle!

I loved CURVES but when mine closed and I went to a long way to another one, it was very busy and in a very cramped building, It was just too busy and overcrowded Pat

HUGS Thanks for the support emoticon emoticon emoticon

I wish you the best with the change. At the end of this month I'll be looking for a new fitness center too. The one I go to now would be too much of a drive in the winter. emoticon

So sorry your gym (Curves) is closing. It can be a difficult transition to find another place. My gym (Golds) closed a few years back; I tried several different gyms before settling on one that most of my friends use. Since you already have a membership at the Anytime Fitness, try it out!

If where you are is working for you, there is no need to change.
