Heavy Lifting

I got my new Versa Gripps last night. The trainers at the gym say these are the best and help you lift heavier weight more comfortably. Iíll find out tomorrow. Iím going to go in early and lift for about a half hour before my kettlebell class.

While I understand the concept of lifting heavy, Iím finding that actually doing it is trial and error at first. I started Wednesday evening, and found that I currently have no clue what I am capable of lifting. It did make for some laugh out loud moments for me. Sometimes what I chose was waaaay to heavy and sometimes not enough. So Iíll try it all again tomorrow morning with my new gripps. (Theyíre hot pink! )

I have also discovered that I need hard rock music with screaming guitars and pounding drums to do my lifting. Iím not ordinarily much of an AC/DC fan, but for lifting itís fabulous. So I borrowed my husbandís Ted Nugent CD and put that on my iPod, as well as some Triumph, Head East, and Guns ní Roses. Who knew?

    AC/DC is great for walking to. I usaully pound the pavement when listening to it. Anyway good luck with lifting more weight. emoticon

    Rextine - noting wrong using machines for your strength training. I include some myself. The gripps are good for the machines as well. It's not how you do the strength training, its just good that you do it!

PHBess - yeah, grunting does add to the experience! LOL

    I've never used straps to lift; I figured that if my grip was the limiting factor on the lift, waiting to train a stronger grip might be avoiding a worse injury from trying to lift too much.

But the music! Currently I'm set up to lift in the quiet of my own basement, but I remember the music in the gym. It really sucked for cardio, but sucky music seemed to be part of the weight lifting experience. The suckiness just makes you mad enough to lift more.

    I guess I'm not with it. I just go around to the right five machines and do my exercises.

    And grunt when you lift, LOL - it helps, and it makes you feel totally macho!!!!
