Road Burn...

Oh, it's been two days since I actually was on here writing, so sorry about that... I've been a bit depressed seeing that I ran at night for the first time the other day and injured myself. Nothing too serious but I have had to stop running (and going up stairs) for the last two days. I was getting into the groove of working out again and then I had to stop abruptly. It was brutal and rather heartbreaking. emoticon So my leg is doing better and yesterday I was able to bend my knees enough so I could go up the stairs in our house and walk outside on our hilly terrain. It was glorious! The weather also helped. emoticon So, the furry baby and I got outside and went for two nice walks of 2 miles each outing. My knee did really well, minus the two really steep hills, enough though I think I can get out and hike and walk today without any problems. emoticon So on Nov 7: 10 minutes walking with the furry baby. Nov 8: 80 minutes walking with the furry baby (yea, there were a lot of stop and sniff opportunities taken).

emoticon Food wise I took a little setback too and wasn't watching my calories as I had been for so long. Sometimes I forget to log them but I'm always watching what I eat. The last two days I was terrible though and actually fell back into my old routine and just ate whatever I wanted, grrr... At least it was only two days along and I'm feeling back to normal - I just have to learn there are going to be times I can't workout and I have to deal with it better. Emotional repair instead of physical I guess- that's why weight loss doesn't happen over night.

Nov 7
Dinner: Spaghetti squash 1/2 and marinara sauce on top.
Plus 1 small slice of this homemade vegan pizza:


Nov 8
Breakfast: Nature's Path Organic Bran Cereal (gasp, usually we only have this when really busy!)


Lunch: Leftovers: Yes, I was too lazy to put onto real plates... :(


Dinner: Thai Food not pictured because I forgot to take photo.

Meals have been rather healthy but I have been snacking on TJ's peanut butter pretzels, skittles, and licorice too much. Snacking is my main issue so I hope to get that under control again and figure out how to supplement my boredom with something else. Right now I'm trying crochet therapy... hehe At least my in-laws will get a few homemade gifts too this year!

So how do you compensate for not being able to workout?

crochet therapy sounds groovey! I'm perfectly horrible at crocheting, so I'm jealous. Even if I compensate with high quality, colorful yarn, mine ends up looking like they're asking me "Really, you couldn 't make me look more symmetrical?" Who needs a tapered scarf?!

  As I am working through and injury right now and not being able to run for 5 weeks, I do strength training, lots of core, Wii FIt but most important, I tighten up the eating and decrease the carbs. Portion control very important as well during a non running phase
