This girl turned down sweets?!

I had the most amazing thing happen this week, I've gotta make a blog post about it so I don't forget: I actually resisted cupcakes and doughnuts this week. ME. The junk food addict.

Let me break it down:

An awesome co-worker planned on making pumpkin spice cupcakes with chai frosting for my birthday last month, but time didn't allow it. Let it be known: this is my absolutely favorite fall flavor combination. I was drooling at the thought of these cupcakes. She finally decided to bake them and bring them to work on Tuesday - day 2 of my eating plan. Oh the injustice! And she didn't just bake a few, she baked THREE DOZEN. OMG. Total panic. She brought them in at 8am. Normally, I would have had 2 before lunch time alone. I finally had one - just one - for my afternoon snack. And I tracked for it too. Just one!

The next day (while at least a dozen cupcakes remained within full view and easy reach), another co-worker brings in fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts - hot and fresh. Oh jeez. Another favorite. But did I have any?! No, not a single one. NOT A SINGLE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Ok, so there were still cupcakes and doughnuts left over today. I broke off like 1/3 of a doughnut after lunch. But it wasn't even good the next day, so I threw the last bite away).

I'd better see some progress on the scale this week. Just sayin'. :)

ummm...1. Those cupcakes sound freakin amazing!!!! 2. I understand about the donuts, we occasionally have Krispy Kremes here also, so hard to resist.
Good for you though! I am trying to implement my old rule for work...if I didn't bring it, I can't eat it. I try to make this my general rule across the board and 99% of the time when I am on target, this works well for me. Keep up the good work!

I'm currently unemployed, and I really miss office life. But not the treats that the well-meaning diet wreckers were always bringing in! (And yes, I was one of them!) It takes more will power to just say "no" than I sometimes had....but not you! Woo Hoo!

You are AWESOME! I find myself doing this all the time. And feeling like I should be congratulated for resisting temptation every time too. If you read my blog from a couple days ago, you will read about the folks at Ruby Tuesday's overcooking my steak last Friday, and bringing 3 cupcakes to the table to make up for it, after I refused their offer to make me another steak, knowing I would eat both steaks if they did. I didn't eat any cupcakes! Then the next day we got cheesesteaks for lunch. Hubby gets the 10" sandwich with fries. I get the 6" WITHOUT fries. I've been doing this for a couple years now, I track for it, and lost weight while eating a weekly cheesesteak, and have maintained for 19 months eating a weekly cheesesteak. But since I'm trying to lose weight some before my Today show appearance (11/19, in case you were wondering), I took the meat out of the bread this week, and didn't eat the bun. I'm thinking I saved about 200 calories right there. But because we are such good, regular customers (EVERY Sat. for lunch we get cheesesteaks from the same place!), they gave me fries with my sandwich. NOOOOOOOO! I gave hubby all the fries. I didn't even stick one of those yummy little fried potatoes in my mouth. Oh I wanted to! Hubby shared them with Lola, our bulldog. She was most grateful.

People will try to sabotage you right and left. They are well-meaning. It's best NOT to say, "I can't eat this--I'm trying to lose weight." Just accept their offer and then try to get it out of your sight as fast as possible! We just have to maintain our efforts to be strong and motivated. It doesn't end after you lose the weight either--just warning you!

Good for you!! And, you have pointed out something I tend to forget and have to re-learn regularly - that if you let goodies sit out for a couple of days, they are no longer good goodies! I just hope I can remember it for the next time. Especially true of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

You practiced flexibility and moderation - very good. You had a small serviing of foods you really liked and didn't inhale all of the cupcakes and donuts. So you didn't feel totally deprived and you didn't wallow in food landmine hell! Good job.

You are doing great!
