So today I decided to shake things up a bit and refocus my energy on changing my lifestyle for the better. I'd started reading The Spark two months ago, and stopped once I reached the second half (28-day program), as I was on my own roll and doing well. But in the meantime, I let myself derail for a number of reasons. While I could rattle off lots of excuses, one reason that sticks out in my head is that I haven't spent enough time defining my overall goals and motivation for achieving those goals.
In reading through Chapter 6 of The Spark, it jogged my memory (does that count for SparkPoints?), that I sorta skipped over that and just kept my long term goals in my head. Well now, two months later since I didn't write them down, I'm not really sure what I thought my long term goals were, let alone my motivation for wanting to achieve them. SO.. I'm starting the 28 day program (I also decided to try out SparkCoach since it comes with a free first week). The first week has some fastbreak goals in it and some other tasks. I've just printed off a "real" paper tracker to post on the fridge and keep track of what I'm supposed to accomplish this week (including some introspective goal setting).
In other news, today there was a giant roadrunner hanging around the grassy area near the steps to my apartment -- I love roadrunners, and had one that lived near my old house in Phoenix. I think it was a sign of good things to come with this little feathery guy hanging out to meet me today!
Hmm. Also, I miss my two kitties big time. They are being 'fostered' at my parent's house in Phoenix for the time being so that I could get moved and settled. I need to get the okay from my apartment complex and then figure out how to get them here! Something very comforting about two very social, purring furry friends.
