To stay positive, that is.
Today I woke up and had a full-blown head cold. Head colds are the worst. There's really nothing you can do but wait it out. Meanwhile, I feel like my head is in a bubble. It's really no fun.
But, I went to the gym this morning to get my run on anyway. I got there and the parking lot was pretty empty, and the gym itself was empty. And none of my coworkers were there. Hmm... then it dawned on me that today was the monthly wing run. I clearly ignored that email But I was already there so I just did my workout anyway. It felt good to run even though I'm not feeling well. I felt like I could have kept going, but I am sticking to my Spark Your Way to a 5k training plan like a good Sparker. :) I did not get in trouble for being late to work either. I think it helped that my boss made the same mistake, because I did see him at the gym too! We just skipped out on the wing run this afternoon instead, which was probably good for me because running outside with a head cold would probably not be great. However, I am planning to do an outside run on Saturday, regardless of how I feel!
I officially signed up to run a 5k!! It is the Ugly Christmas Sweater 5k, in my city! How fun does that sound?? You wear an ugly sweater when you run!! I tried to convince J to sign up, but since its technically in the middle of our inspection (even though its on a Saturday) he said no. Well, oh well to him - I am doing it anyway.
A big annoyance today was that my insurance finally called to schedule an ortho appt for my thumb, and the earliest they said the ortho clinic had an opening was December 5th!! Seriously?? That is like a month away! They said I could call often to see if there are any openings sooner, which I guess is what I will have to do. So frustrating!
However, I am trying to stay positive. I am sad I cant add in weight training - upper body - right now, but I decided to try something else. I've always been interested in pilates, but have never actually done it. Ok, I lie. I have a pilates dvd that is pretty awful and 80s styled! So I never use it. BUT I know pilates can be really good for posture and your core, which is also good for running, right?? So I ordered a dvd set on Amazon today for beginner pilates. It has 3 different dvds, but so many options! It was only $20 for all 3, and because I have Amazon prime, I got free 2-day shipping! I am excited to try these out! I am not sure how limited I will be with my thumb, but we will see. Apparently, I have read on 5 different websites that you can change your body with just 30 sessions of pilates! Really, I just want to work on my posture :)
