Nov. 6-8: Being thankful

Nov. 6: Election Day! Iím truly thankful for the right to cast a vote for whomever my heart desires. It wasnít that long ago that women werenít able to vote, so I take pride in going to the polls and letting my voice be heard (although I rarely talk politics with anyone!). I was a journalist for several years and Election Night was by far the most exciting night of the year. It was chaos, fueled on adrenaline and pizza. Every year since Iíve been out of the newsroom, I have had withdrawal. I miss it, but Iím grateful that I was able to be a part of something so important for so many years.
Nov. 7: As silly as is seems, Iím thankful for running gear. I might have a bit too much gear considering how little I run (right now). But having a heart rate monitor or a new armband to hold my iPhone helps it all solidify and become clear to me what Iím doing when Iím out there. I can run without that stuff, but I like checking my heart rate to see if itís really elevated or if Iím just feeling tired. Running gear makes it a little more interesting.
Nov. 8: My house. I love my little house. My husband and I bought it a few years ago, and itís the first for both of us. Itís also the first time Iíve wanted to settle down somewhere and this house has been the perfect starter for us. It may have illogical light switch placement and lack simple things like a dishwasher, but itís home. And most days, including today, I canít wait to go home.
