The 8-Cent Banana
Thursday, November 08, 2012
This morning after leaving the gym, I stopped at Kroger for a banana. That's all, just one banana. I paid 18 cents for it, and then found a dime in the parking lot on my way back out. Best deal I've ever gotten! ;)
It's been a rough week. I fell flat on my face with eating this week, and part of it has been the stress of getting assignments done and studying for tests. I'm ready for Christmas Break!!!
But today I started fresh, and I made soup in my crockpot for dinner tonight. I had a bunch of vegetables sitting in the fridge and pantry and I pretty much tossed everything together with some broth and seasonings, and that's all. I had a head of cabbage, carton of mushrooms, leftover green beans and corn from the other night, some green onions, fresh garlic, and a can of diced tomatoes. My house smells SO GOOD right now. A couple days ago, I was at the store getting whole wheat bread (because Dan doesn't know how to buy bread for FIBER and not PRICE)...anyway they had whole wheat dinner rolls on clearance for 29 cents a bag! I got the last 2 bags, so tonight with my cheap vegetable soup, we will also have those dinner rolls. I love getting deals at the store. :D
I lifted weights this morning for the first time in a week! I hurt my back doing laundry over the weekend so I took it easy on Monday instead of ST, and I picked it back up today. I was first in the gym this morning. Did my ST, and then got 600 yards in the pool before going to get my banana. Now that the majority of my testing and research papers are turned in for the week, I felt like today was a good get-back-to-business day! I have felt so exhausted and out-of-whack, all week. I ran 3 miles on Tuesday, but I barely remember it because I had been up all night writing a paper...today for the first time, I feel like I did something for ME again. It feels good to be back. :)
