How can journaling help you in preparing to stay on your healthy journey for the holidays from Thanksgiving until Jan.1?

When I write things down, my goals and aspirations, fears and challenges that hold me back, I identify what it is I want and what is stopping me from getting it. From that I can develop game plans to over come the fears and leap over the obsticles.

Thanksgiving is a no-brainer for me. I don't really celebrate it as my sister's inlaws have been hosting it the past couple years (my sister's had breast cancer issues and was pregnant before that) and they smoke so I won't go. It works fine with me because I like the down time!!

Christmas I rarely get a lot of candy or food items other than low carb treats like Atkins which is part of my eating plan, so that's not a problem either. I only go to one small Yule gathering of just me and my bffs and we have a pretty strict guide of what to bring. Usually its not food food, but rather crackers and cheese (I get the crackers & cheese and I have found several lower carb, higher fiber ones :) ); veggies (we use ranch dressing for dip); fruit (I eat a limited amount); and ONE treat that is limited in quantity because we specifically buy something just big enough for one per person :) All of us are overweight, all of us are trying to lose, and we encourage each other. Other than that there's just the holiday party at work and that's a late lunch that have a buffet with a meal of meat, starch, veg, salad and bread. I just eat a healthy portion of meat, a limited amount of carb, plenty of veg and salad and A piece of bread. :)

    It is great that your bffs and you are on the same page with the food stuffs. It makes it so much easier!

Thanks for the reminder that journaling can help. I do it sometimes, but I am inconsistent with it.

    I love the plans for Christmas which you and your friends have thought out so well. I would not like to be with a group of smokers at Thanksgiving either. That would be a pass for me, too. My DH and I are spending Thanksgiving with our daughter who has been going through a separation from her husband. We are trying to get reservations at an Inn in Ojai, CA.

We shall prevail.

    Your Yule gathering sounds really nice!

Journaling has really really helped me work toward my goals. Instead of eating my stress, I write it down.
