Back on Track

I've been discouraged lately. I got into some poison ivy over two weeks ago and it's the absolute worst case I have ever had. It's still not totally gone, though it's looking way better. Then my youngest grandson brought home a nasty stomach bug from Kindergarten, and of course shared with everyone. All his siblings got it and bounced back in 24 hours. His parents and I were not so lucky. My DD and SIL bounced back considerably sooner than I did. I was sick for about 36 hours and then it took the rest of a week to get to where I feel like myself again. I didn't walk for a week; I couldn't have if I'd wanted to. I walked for the first time on Monday, and I thought I wasn't goint to make it. I walked 1 mile - half what I normally walk - and it was so hard I barely made it back home. I didn't have time to walk Tuesday due to the election but repeated my 1 mile again yesterday. It went quite a bit better. I made the mile fairly easily and didn't feel like it was going to kill me. So today I decided to add a little more to it - just a block or so or until I felt I had to stop. I not only completed the full 2 miles, I did it in my best time since I've been keeping track! Add to that my weight has started to go down again and I'm feeling pretty great today. I guess giving myself the freedon to lay off until I felt I was ready to tackle the full route again was smart after all! WooHoo! Great start to the day for me.
