Day 16 and Doing Great

I have no idea where all this renewed enthusiasm has come from, but I'm riding the wave, baby!

I've had 15 days of recording everything and NOT BINGEING. What a great feeling to be in control! I've got some challenges coming up but I'm thinking about them, "mentally rehearsing".

Yesterday TC and I did 13 miles -- our last long walk before the Route 66 Half Marathon on November 18. We walked 10 minutes, jogged 5 minutes. We did this for 10.5 miles and then walked the last 2.5 miles. It was very challenging because we haven't run this many intervals this long in quite a while. I WAS BEAT but we finished the 13 miles in our best time ever: 3 hours, 15 minutes. That was better than our half-marathon time in 2001, so you can't argue with that.

Today is a low-key day -- Power Pump class and then home for batch cooking and house cleaning. I'll put on my iPod and sing at the top of my lungs!!

We start today tapering down our walking mileage because the half marathon is in 9 days. I'm going to drop considerably on the Step Challenge -- I'm #10 out of 600 right now, and I love being in column 1 of page 1! The competitive me is NOT happy about having to give up, but it's the right thing to do.

    Stay in the Zone! Fifteen days really is a great streak and your planning for future potential pitfalls is really setting you up for success! Definitely inspiration for me!

How nice that you and TC are on the same page-
my dh is some sort of anti-exercise buff-
although I've gotten him walking a bit more these last few years.

    Love, love, love the zone you're in! I was fascinated about how run/walk methods increased my husband's marathon training time when he decided to try it out -- what a metaphor for life in cycling through focused 'pauses' for even more productive 'pushes'.
