Come on Up Lay Your Hands in Mine

Thursday, November 08, 2012

Whew, it's been a while!

I've pretty much fallen captive to a schedule of teach-grade-sleep-survive and there hasn't been much time for things such as Sparking. Some of this is slightly my fault, but some is just the general insanity of being an early-career teacher trying a lot of new things in new courses.

The good news: I'm doing pretty great. I am on a consistent 3 day a week strength training routine and lift heavy weights. I am still running, mostly. I am eating decently. This one is the most important because the last time I had a physical done, my A1C was just a smidge above normal, and I need to watch that nonsense. For those not in the know, A1C is a blood sugar measurement. Which reminds me, I really need to lay off the leftover candy corn, like, yesterday.

The bad news is that I'm busy and stressed out and I know it. I'm great at handling it, but it can make me crazy at times, and then I don't do things I enjoy like blogging on here and on my geek blog.

I'm working on it, though. Getting my balance, finding my groove. Only 4 more weeks of classes this semester! I love my students, but they sure eat my life!

Anyway, just saying hi and hoping to do so more in the near future.

Onward and upward!

WooHoooo! Glad dyou're hanging in there. Life does have a way of sucking time, doesn't it! But, you're handling it. So, keep it up!

It is so tempting this time of the year to eat the stuff we know we shouldn't (oh boy, don't put a bag of candy corn near me . . . it would be inhaled without benefit of chewing!)

Just take care of yourself.

HUGS

Wow, you seem to be teaching a whole lot! Do you have time for writing and publishing at all? Or do you prefer to focus on teaching? Hang on in there, you seem to be doing great!

You manage your life better than most people I know. I know there's no way I could do even 1/2 of what you do, even if I didn't have all my conditions.

Is there a chance you'll ever get a TA to help you with grading? That'd be a huge help I'm sure! Still, you're getting a lot done, so hang in there.

Good for you at handling the stress and continuing to eat well and exercise! You are way ahead of me. I just posted about severe stress causing me to lose weight - but not for good reasons - my stomach was in knots so I couldn't eat. I'd love to do better at handling stress. Anyway, I hope things get a little less crazy for you soon. Good luck!
