Hi Sparkpeeps!
I've been crazy busy over the past month.. and looks like things are going to be that way heading into the holiday season! Here are a few posts that I've missed sharing with you all!

As for the Sparkpeople stuff.. I've been trying to adjust my eating so that I'm eating more for fuel rather than just eating whatever. I've been trying to keep with whole foods- unprocessed grains, greek yogurt, berries, eggs, lean meats, homemade soups.. course nobody's perfect. I was going really good for a week.. then came Sandy, and Halloween.. and Tastefully Simple parties.. (ok it was one party.. but I made pumpkin martinis.. not an excuse- just sayin') Been trying to get back to it, but it's been an adjustment. (Making whole foods means actually taking the time to prepare whole foods. lol)

The one thing I've been really proud of is that I'm making my own soups for lunch. For 4+ years I ate the same lunch- Healthy Choice soup (chicken noodle or chicken rice), a Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt, and an Apple. All healthy menu items.. but the soup is processed, and made with white rice and flour, the yogurt has sugar and artificial flavor/color in it.. SO I tweaked it. I've been making my own soups (Cheeseburger soup with ground turkey and brown rice, chicken tortilla soup with carved rotisserie chicken, morrocan beef stew, stuffed pepper soup with chicken sausage and ground turkey) Sound good? IT IS! And, I find myself more satisfied after lunch, that I've been skipping my usual afternoon snack, so the calories balance out.

I've also been making my own yogert cups- 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries thawed, 1/2 cup 0% vanilla greek yogurt, 1/2 tbs of honey. YUM, and all natural. You can even skip the honey if you don't mind tart.. but I think it adds a little flavor too.

Another great meal I've been making is peanut butter & banana oatmeal. I've never liked plain oatmeal.. and never could figure out a way to cook it it make it taste edible. BUT I actually found this recipe on SparkRecipes.. take 1 banana and 1/4 cup milk, blend until smooth. Add to 1/2 cup dry, plain oats & stir. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir. Microwave again for 30 seconds and stir again. Repeat a 3rd time if necessary. Add 1 tbs of peanut butter and stir. EAT! This method also works with berries (replace pb with honey).. and even pumpkin (although you you have to add more milk.. about a cup.. to get the consistancy right, and 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice. MMM.

Just thought I'd put those out there, cause that's what I've been up to lately. This weekend I have to run 14 miles (YIKES!) and then I'm flying down to Orlando to visit my sister, nephew and niece. This is my first time meeting my niece.. she's 7 months old this month! So I'm really excited! Take care Sparkpeeps!!

    PS. I have a beef barley soup recipe you should try. SO good, so light, and fills me UP!!!!!!!!

    I hear you on the oatmeal thing! I WANT to like it but I just can't. I have been eating raw oats with my yogurt, I like that too.
