For whatever reason, I seem to be running on empty this week. Seems my get up and go, got up and went. Haven’t really changed anything, but I am dangerously close to PMS time. I also have not been sleeping well (unlike last week when I was sleeping like a log). I’m going to attribute it to that for now. As I am entering the PMS window, I will not weigh this week.
I’m trying a new approach to my work out this evening. I usually do some weight lifting on Wednesday nights. Nothing fancy, just a couple of self designed circuits. After reading a couple of books this past week on lifting, I am going to try lifting heavy. That means using enough weight that I can only do 6 to 8 reps per set. This should be interesting as I have always strived for 15 reps per set. At a minimum, it’s something a little different and a challenge. Changing it up is good.
I used to only do cardio. I did LOTS of cardio. What I found was that for me, it did not give me enough variety and did not provide enough body muscle to make a meaningful body change. Yes, I got thinner, but it was still hard to keep it off. I fought so hard for the last pounds to get to goal. With adding strength training into the mix, I am finding it easier to make the last few pounds back to goal. I like the variety and my arms are certainly toned. Oh, I still have some bat wings under there, but overall my arms look pretty good. (Now that winter is here, I have to bury them in sweaters…..story of my life – LOL.)
So even though I am running on fumes, I still like my work outs. It’s great to have workouts that I like doing, even though I am tired.
