On Monday, I went for a run with the group I started this fall with. Well, at that time I was plagued with problems - my right foot would tingle & turn entirely numb & I'd have to stop and take off my shoe & wiggle my toes. My miles were averaging 14-15 mph and I just couldn't keep up. And, some times I bailed early because I wasn't sure what was going on with my foot.
Well, my foot problem has been addressed and I am now healthy enough to push myself and run. So, I tried again on Monday.
For reference, my average short runs lately have been 4-5 miles at a 12:30-13:00 pace. Well, I ran 5 on Monday & 4.5 today, and we ran a 11:30 pace!!! WOOHOO!!! That's a minute plus FASTER!!! And, I felt GREAT!
By the way, if these temps would just drop a bit and the sun would give me a break, I think we'd be doing closer to 11:00.
I'm LOVING IT and so excited! And, some of the group just got back from the Moab trail run this weekend. These ladies do marathons in about 4 hours (or less). They did it in 7 hrs 23 mins!!! First of all, they took it easy & took lots of photos. But, then they heard they were in danger of being picked up and they started pushing. It was just TOUGH! They said about 10+ miles was in the SAND!!! And, well... let's just leave it as it was a trail run & very tough.
Well, since I've not run with this group before, I didn't realize there would be a Spring "Destination Race." Oh, I'm so excited!!! They haven't picked it yet... it'll be in March or April. But, I'm SO HOPING I can DO IT!!!
(I looked for a plane, but couldn't find one...
