Our running group coach started a new group today - a cylcing group! I was very excited as most groups ride on weekday evenings or weekends. I have the most free time while my daughter is at school, so this will work great!
There were only 6 of us - and I was the only native English speaker! The rest spoke Spanish. They mainly spoke English but occasionally would start speaking in Spanish and then one of them would translate for me. I found it kind of funny! And, I helped them with a few words... like interesection... and flat. Yes, one of the ladies had a flat tire!
Two of the ladies were BRAND new to riding and had dirt bikes. They ended up going quite a bit slower than us, so we just split up and were planning on meeting them at a certain point - until one in our group got her flat. And, she had an old bike so our tubes didn't fit. We ended up going back to where we started to pick her up with a car.
We ended up going only 12 of the 15 planned miles, but they were faster than I'm used to and it was enough for today. Also, I didn't have on my bike shorts and I could feel a difference. Ouch! And, I ran HARD yesterday and have a run tomorrow... so best not to push too hard!
I'll be running 4 or 5 miles tomorrow and then probably spinning Thursday. Friday will be my last 'long run' though it'll probably be a cut from last week's 12 - I'll probably do 8. Then, the following weekend is Half Marathon #5... and my first of 2012!!!
I'll be running Half #6 in early December, but I haven't decided which race yet... RunGirl 13.1 which is near home and my FAVORITE I've done, or Dallas with some of the ladies in my running group.
