LSD weekend run

Monday, November 05, 2012

On Sunday I went did a Long Slow Distance run along the dike, then behind the dike through the trees, to the river and then back again. Today was a gray day, I went back on my bike to take the photos. From now on, I am going to take my camera with me on my LSDs
Total run - just over 12 miles, including 7 miles along the dike and 3 miles of trails and 2 miles to get to and from my place to the dike.

I started out on the dike with my neighbour's dog
The dog is the tiny blond dot on the middle of the right side of the photo.
wow, the resolution from my photos to the blog photos is pretty poor

some scenes along the dike route

this is the third gate along the dike, I run up to here and turn around on my short runs

miles more dike - the total dike run was about 7 miles

After the run along the dike, I went behind on the trail through the trees. In some places the puddles go all the way across the road and there are brambles on the side, so I have to skirt carefully to avoid getting my feet wet. I love the beauty of running along a trail among the trees.

At the river, the water is a bit high from the rain, there wasn't enough shore to run along and the fallen trees and brambles were in the way higher up on the bank. It is nice to see the river on the run, too bad it isn't possible to use the shore for my route right now.

The scenery is quite stark as it is now November and most of the leaves are off the trees.
I just love being able to run outside close to home and with the dog. In my teen years I used to do these trails with my horse and dog, now I am running them.

You certainly do have some lovely running trails -- although a little wet at the moment!

What a beautiful run. I'd trade trying to keep my feet dry for not having to dodge traffic. Unfortunately I have no LSD's only SSD's do I'd miss half the scenery!

Nice pics, but what's up with the LSD? I think the scenery would be beautiful enough without drugs! emoticon

Just kidding, but I really don't know what you mean by LSD.

I love running in nature. I don't know if I'd be brave enough to be out alone though. Your photos tell the "run" story!!!
