When Jenny (from Azure's) first talked about doing a 5K in San Diego, I thought cool, I'm close enough to go down and do it. Hmm... I wonder if my husband would do it with me? Well, that's mostly because I probably wouldn't have gone without my security blanket & backbone. After all, this is the first time meeting anyone from Spark People. I was anxious and leery, because I'm normally really shy until I get to know someone. Then Katrina (Kat, former Azurita and one of the founders of the BLC) said she would run it too. SWEET!
Then we all basically forgot about it until the week of the race. DH & I met up with them and families and started talking, laughing and having a great time. I got my tush smacked plenty as I had decided to put a pair of color run white shorts that said color this on the back. Umm... yeah, not really a fan of pain here.
It took a long time for us to get to the starting line, but that was OK. Dave, and the others started opening their color packets and tossing them on us. Note, the color sticks better if the shirt is at least damp.
I think this was the longest 5K in history, but it was so fun to see everyone twirling and dancing through the color. Kat had so many different colors on her face by the end it was a brownish green and you could only see her eyes. I had color all over too (except around the face as I wore a purple bandana to keep the starch away so I could continue to breathe).
Unfortunately I didn't take the pictures the others did, but if you visit their pages you can see plenty of pics. LOL!
