HELP!

I'm having a problem with emotional eating and really need some advice.

    Great advice here!.

I will add.....watch your SUGAR intake! Eliminate all sugars and your emotional eating will go away. Simple, just clear out everything in your pantry and fridge high in sugar, do it gradually or in one go, whatever way is possible for you.
Also drink water when you feel emotional or craving food, it's hard to eat anything when your tummy is full of water emoticon emoticon

    If I have a sweet tooth or feel like eating when I know I'm not hungry but something else is eating me, I just pop a 20 calorie piece of hard candy cinnamon in my mouth. It can take 5 minutes to suck in my mouth which gives me time to think about if I really want to now eat tons of calories that will not solve my problem. The hot cinnamon also curves any feelings of hunger. I think about how it took me two years to lose 40 pounds and I know that I can gain it back in less than a year if I am not conscious about what is going on with me.

I'm not perfect and sometimes slip but I immediately pick myself up before any real damage is done. You are thinking about this and therefore conscious about this which is a very good sign.

    I hear you, I think probably everybody here on SP, know exactly what you're talking about! The best thing that I have learned to do, is to just NOT have bad things in the house. It is possible to overcome. Because we know that these times will come and we can overcome so much better if we don't have calorie-laden things in the house! Keep healthy things that you like around. Like I have gotten to like raw veggies more, radishes for instance are so easy to prepare and so worth it fo me. I can eat them without any dip too! WooHoo! Something else that I love are the WalMart choc, covered pretzel packs, of 100 cal. each! Also, the yogurt covered pretzels. I have a real sweet tooth too, so these are things that I go for. Fruit is another good thing. Gum is a good answer, but I don't chew it that often or don't even think about it. Nature Valley Thin Granola bars are yummy and only 80 cal. a pc. I love the dark choc/pb. Special K has 90 cal. granola bars that are actually nummy too and don't taste full of chemicals. I'm really a fanatic about that. So many things can these days! Lean proteins......do you like milk? I don't skim milk at all, so that's another go-to. 1% cottage cheese & chunk pineapple, turkey ham and some light Provolone cheese with it and wrap. Lots of things that I turn to when I just can't handle it. Oh yes, I do cave, but not near as often anymore. It's a matter of changing our whole lifestyle, choosing all things more healthy. We in America, have everything available to us to do it. I keep telling myself that, because it helps to discipline me! You can do it! If I can you can! Hugs, Karen
