TEACH 'em young! :-)

Monday, November 05, 2012

You know how I adore my little baby boy, Sammy [NOT so little anymore--1st grade and excelling in reading and math and is a COMPLETE joy to homeschool!]

As many of you know, we've ground our wheat and made our own bread for over 22 years--all of our 8 children have grown up eating this bread. Well, my Sammy is getting ready to go on an overnight with one of my dearest friends [like an aunt to him] and the following conversation transpired. We were sitting at the counter eating lunch when Sammy said, "Mom what am I going to do with bread at Miss Sharon's house." I said, "Well, I told he I'd send a loaf of my bread to help out with the food." He said, "Oh good…Miss Sharon's bread tastes weird and it's WHITE."! ha! He doesn't like white bread--that tasteless, refined stuff they call food! hehe!

Anyway, this just blessed me so much that his taste buds are so seasoned that he knows healthy from unhealthy! YEAH!!!!!!

"You take a nice wholesome grain of wheat, remove the bran that contains most of the fiber, remove the germ that cvontains most of the protien, bleach the hell out of it, add a bunch of manmade chemicals and call it enriched."

Its great that he has learned by example what healthy is.

That is pretty cool. when kids grow up eating real food, they don't care for the other stuff. i will do some specialty bakery breads that for special occasions but otherwise i buy whole grain bread.

I did the same with my kids, but when they got out on their own they ate awful food! Now that they all have kids of their own, they're back to healthy food again. Funny how that works :)

That's fabulous!! My kids were raised with whole wheat and whole grain breads. They didn't know what white bread was either and when they tasted it, they didn't like it! You little guy is just adorable!!! He's at such a great age!!!

Thanks for sharing, just thinking about homemade bread makes my mouth water, reminds me of the days when my grandma put out trays of homemade bread, it was so scrumptious, no comparison to the bought kind. Homemade rules, that's for sure. I love the pictures of you and Sammy... They always make me smile when I see those two smiling faces... emoticon

DH is right now making a loaf of whole wheat bread. We love making our own bread - tastes so much better and is healthier for us.

I went to The Women of Faith Conference over the weekend and am filled up and overflowing with His love for me. Cece Winans and Selah were there and they both just blessed my socks right off of me. The Sprint Center in Kansas City holds 19,000 and it was filled almost to capacity. It was awesome celebrating Him with all of my new "Sisters in Christ".

Take care and do have a GREAT week. I miss hearing from you but know you are busy.

Hugs to you, my sweet friend.

The pictures are so adorable!! Soooooooooo cute!! I love a little pirate. LOL.

My son also always preferred whole wheat bread. I'm glad he isn't wheat intolerant like me.
