We went to Lesnes Abbey Woods yesterday, there is the remains of an Abbey there which was never repaired after it was sacked. There is a layout of virtually the whole thing, but not all that many higher walls left.
Mostly we went to walk the woods, as we had been round the Abbey before in the Summer and thought the woods would be lovely in the Autumn.
So, sharing some pictures, such a shame they get re-sized so small on here.
Beautiful! Do you ever walk around Highgate Cemetery? That's on my list of London walks, but I think I'm going to have to add your Abbey Woods as well. xx
beautiful pics, looks like a gorgeous day!! i too dislike how small the pics are on here, hard to make out the details you want to show off the most!! much love!
It's always funny how wonderful it is to get out in nature, and see the beauty of the world, and that we do it so little. We forget about it too easily.
Awesome photos! You were in a very beautiful place. Thanks for sharing the photos. I enjoyed the face carved in the tree and the photos of the mushrooms.
for sharing your day with us. I especially like the first one with all the little mushrooms and the one with the fungus growing on the tree. The one with the rippled tree trunk makes you wonder what happened to cause that when the tree was likely young.
I wish, too, that SP wouldn't size the pictures so small. I'm assuming they do it for server space, but I don't know.
So much rot! It's funny, my dad used to remind me that the woodsy smell we all love, and that smell of the sea are all ddueto the smell of death and decay.
