After having the easiest pregnancy in the history of man, I was expecting my labor and delivery to make up for it. Luckily, that went smooth too!
Friday, September 21st I started having very mild contractions at 1 am. At 5am I woke Eric up because they were every 5 minutes and as soon as he got up, they stopped, so we both went back to bed. Around Noon Friday, I started to have 2-3 mild contractions an hour that felt more like cramps that continued all day. I went out for lunch and went shopping to keep walking and speed things along with no luck. Eric and I actually went mini-golfing that night at 9pm and I only had 2 contractions the whole time which I still played through. It wasn't until 11pm when they quickly went from every 30 minutes to every 8 by 12:30am. I called the dr's office at this point to head to the hospital and good thing because when she called back 10 minutes later, they were coming every 1 minute! We arrived at the hospital around 1:30am surprised to find out I was at 7 cm already. They called the on-call Dr and gave me my epidural 20 minutes later at 9 cm and tried to stall me until the Dr arrived and my epidural kicked in. 3 hours later, Gavin was born on September 22nd, at 4:48am. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19.5" long. I'm still in awe that I was 7 cm already when I got to the hospital and to have only be in labor for 5 hours for my first baby. It was what I hoped would happened and I couldn't have planned it any better.
He's been a great baby and I love him to pieces!
