Im back! P90 and Zombie 5k

I have been hiding from you guys. I have been feeling pretty down, November marks 1 year since I have been desperately trying to lose weight. I weigh more now than ever :(. However...I lost 1 inch and my other measurements stayed the same so at least the extra fat is muscle, not fat. I only gained about 5lbs but that sure is discouraging that I am not losing any pounds after a year of working out and 2 of clean eating.
I did P90 for 30 days and lost NOTHING. I got a bunch of muscle though! I can do pushups for the first time and my flexibility has improved (which I didn't think it needed to but I was wrong!) I did end up quitting because of the intense hip pain. I went to the doc and he said to just do the elliptical or swim or something so I got mad and quit doing anything for a
2 weeks. This was bad advice. What he should have said was "Get athletic shoes that support your high arch and your hips will feel 95% better". That's what happened. I was doing P90 barefoot and now I realize that was killing me. I found some Nikes on sale and they have been God sent! I am thinking of starting at Phase 2 now but those videos get so boring after a month.
So now I am training for the Run For Your Lives 5k with my best friend. For those of you who don't know, that's the 5k where zombies chase you! And there are 12 obstacles of climbing, crawling, jumping, sometimes swimming..ect. It isn't until May so we have plenty of time for training. We want to build up a lot more upper body strength and be able to jog the 3 miles without stopping. We have been going for about 3 weeks and just started Couch to 5k, I am really proud of us! It is so much easier to workout with your best friend right there, I gotta say. We are running on a path that has a BUNCH of hills (thanks WV) so we are getting a lot more out of it than a treadmill. We have also agreed to keep running outside, even in the winter. Three miles in Hurricane Sandy! Ok..it wasnt that much of a hurricane here but it was windy, cold, and rainy but we did it anyway :). Typically, we run the program which has us go for 20 minutes and then we add another mile in just walking.
Any outdoor runners? This is my first attempt at running so I am a little lost on what to wear to keep warm/cool. I have no work out clothes but I am slowly building up a runners wardrobe. Any suggestions on affordable running clothes? Walmart had a really cheap jacket and pants that I just adore but I dont know where to find cheap running tights for when it snows. I ordered one pair from Amazon...I hope I like them.
Ok..I am off to find some running Spark Teams! Wish me luck!
