saturday--BIG WORKOUT day

okay--so its not saturday--actually its friday, but i had a GREAT WORKOUT day today and i want to blog about it before i forget--normally i don't write on the weekend.
so for starters, i am nursing a touchy upper back--nothing new for me--it just happens sometimes. right now it seems to be in my trapezius muscles--not a muscle i work very often--but raking leaves and stuff does it to it nearly every year. after our dinner out last night i knew i wasn't going to weigh myself today, so i went ahead and took ibuprofen to keep the inflammation down (did you know ibu. can add water weight as much as 3 pounds????) anyway--came in here to blog and saw my post it reminder to do nicoles "new you" bootcamp. today was lower body--lots of movements with the stability ball i have never seen before. so that was good.
then it was time for podrunner. normally i do this twice a week, but since i had been trying to rest my neck and back, i had skipped it on tuesday. felt like tacking it today, figured i could just walk it if running (jogging) was too hard.
for a change i went to a local park--this is a wonderful facility that is privately held. it was built by the owner of the hoosier racing tire factory which is fairly close by. several acres of soccer fields, baseball fields--a wonderful place for families in the summer. ringing the perimeter is a one mile paved track for walkers. i don't go here very often--it is in full view of a very busy highway and a busy state rd. and i am a little shy about jogging there. but today i just wanted to do, so i did. i actually have some winter running pants that aren't covered with paint, ill fitting (well they are too big--but that's not sooooo bad) and ripped in one or two strategic places. so i didn't feel like i would frighten any passing motorists or get picked up for vagrancy. plugged in my ipod shuffle and clicked on podrunner. 50 minutes later i had done it all--jogging at a faster pace than i expected, and feeling really good. the cool down is 5 minutes long, but i was a bit farther than that on the track from my car, so i just kept walking and added 10 minutes of fast walking to the end of the workout. popped back in the car and went home to a pair of very anxious pups, ready and waiting to go to the park. so it was back in the car and over to the state park for a 25 minute brisk trek for them. i clocked us once and when they are on the move we do about 3 mph.
so that was my morning workout--i was tired but exhilirated and ready to get to my friday housecleaning!
