Crazy Busy...getting things done anyway!

Thursday, November 01, 2012

October was a very heavy travel month for me. I was gone for 2 weeks. Then, because I live with children, a 7 year old and 40 year old, Halloween activities were plentiful. Horror conventions, haunted houses, trails of terror, corn mazes, and trunk or treats.

I ran a 5k for Halloween. BEST TIME YET - 34 minutes 29 seconds! I kicked butt. I was so pleased with this time. I worked really hard while I was traveling. I made sure to push myself and continued to train. I'm so so so proud of my time. I shaved 6 minutes off my 5k time this season.

Next on the list is the indoor triathlon in February. I start swimming tomorrow. I haven't quite figured out the best schedule for running, biking, and swimming yet. I'm sure I will pull it together though. I am still strength training 5 days a week too.

In addition to my triathlon training, I have started working with the local community theater. I am currently on the stage crew. For the next 3 weeks, every evening and weekend will be devoted to the show. Luckily, there are a ton of kids in the show, so we are out of there no later than 9:30 pm, but it is intense.

This got me thinking about all the experience I have in theater. I have been performing since I was 4 years old. I've done everything from acting to set design to crew. I have been a stage manager and the lead. I have done musicals and mysteries. The reason this is such a revelation for me is that for the last 10 years living in AZ, I did not do a single play. It's so weird to me, because performing or supporting the theater has been such a large part of my life.

This is significant because over the last 10 years is when I really gained a lot of weight. I start working out, feeling good about myself and bam! Back to theater. I find it interesting that I am going back to the things that I feel good doing. Things that I forgot about, or was secretly avoiding. Very cool stuff.

I have also been looking at doing some volunteer work. I think I'm going to work with the local food bank to start. It's two days a month. After the play, I'll look to do some additional volunteer work, maybe meals on wheels?

I think that is all I have going on right now. I'll have an update when I get a chance. With the Holidays coming, I'll probably be doing some more traveling.

OH, one more thing. I went to buy some new workout pants the other day. I realized that I didn't have any long pants. I went to the store, picked up two XL pants and was on my way. Later that day, I wore a new pair to the gym. My trainer said "those are too big on you." Sure enough they were too big! I didn't even realize. I took them back today and am happy to report that I now wear a large. Happy day!

Sounds like you've been busy! That's great that you're involved with the local theater. I get season tickets to our local theater with a friend of mine. We love to support the local community and they always do a great job.

First of all I love your background. Those trees are beautiful. Wowza.

Sounds like your Holloween was really festive. How fun is that! I am a big kid at heart too.

Your time was excellent. I did my first 5k today and it was 39:02. Blech. I hope to get faster at some point. But, it was my first one, so it is a start right? :) I have never been a fast walker and I have never jogged.

Yay on going down a size in pants. How exciting is that. I can not wait til I get into "regular" sized closed instead of supersized. :)

Keep pushing you are doing great!
