I had my first session yesterday and things went really well. My current schedule with my trainer is 3x per week for the next 4 months. I had to make a decision with what I was going to do. At first I was going to do a Crossft style group workout at another facility but after checking out training options I opted for a personal trainer instead. The guy has some serious credentials, a very good disposition, and he takes me seriously. We hit it off right away. He reminds me of a good friend I haven't seen or talked to in about 15 years, same personality.

I did my fitness assessment and did fairly well for someone who has been training on his own for a year and a half. VO2 Max was about a 35, which is about average for my age..

It's gonna be interesting to see how it reads after 4 months of dedicated training.

I felt like I was received well at the gym plus the owner was a trainer at the gym where I got my start so she knows my story pretty well and was overjoyed to have me on board...even got a big hug to boot :)

I guess when you condense all of the reasons why I selected the more expensive path, it all boils down to this..

I'm lonely.

I have been doing so much on my own for so long, I just need someone to work with, to push me, and to kick my rear when needed. I've done a really good job on my own for sure but it's time now to bring in outside help.

I need to be accountable to make it to the final stages of my journey... it's been a long one.

I also feel I really need the one on one with someone who not only gets it but also respects how far I have come. I need to connect with someone who will give me the push needed to be consistent with strength and conditioning training.

I am pushing to lose between 20-25 pounds over this winter.

If I make that goal, I will be well within sight of the finish line.
